Nancy Erwin Browning, 81, of Middletown, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Northampton, Pennsylvania on September 18, 1922 to parents William Henry and Edith (Cranston) Erwin.
Nancy attended Moravian Seminary, Duke University, and was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. She was an employee of the Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross and during World War II went overseas in the Orient. She came to Middletown in 1947 as a new bride. She assisted in the training of the first Red Cross Gray Ladies in Middletown. She was a member of the Middletown Hospital Auxillary and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She served on the board of the Arts Center, the Red Cross Board, and the Board of Alternatives.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Susan B. (Robert) Cooper of Old Hickory, TN; her son, William B. (Kathy) Browning of Centerville, OH; seven grandchildren, Naomi Black, Jesse, Seth, & Zachary Browning, Allison, Elizabeth, and Andrew Cooper; and one niece, Jean Russell.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 11, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Cross Point Church, 38 N. Main St., Centerville, OH with Pastor William Browning officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, from 10:30 – 11:00 AM at the church. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, June 14, 2004 at 1:00 PM at Nisky Hill Cemetery, 254 E. Church St., Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Interment will be at Nisky Hill Cemetery.
