Nancy J. Wiese, 69, of Middletown, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2004, at Middletown Regional Hospital of ovarian and uterine cancer. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and attended St. John’s Church.
Nancy was born at Middletown Regional Hospital on September 5, 1934. She was the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Sebald. Her father, mother, and brother John Sebald, preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband Carl D. Wiese; her two loving sons, David and wife Tracy Thacker of Carlisle and Rick Thacker of Franklin; a brother, Jim and wife Rosie Sebald of Preble County; sister Robin Hutson of Middletown; step-daughters Terry L. Wiese of Trenton, Tamara L. Wiese of Hamilton, and Tracy L. and husband Jim Napier of Trenton; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four cousins; several very special nieces and nephews; and many, many friends – especially her special friend Inez Newman.
Nancy attended Franklin High School, graduating in 1952. She worked for Armco Steel Corporation several years, leaving in 1972 when she married her husband Carl. She was a member of Armco Girls Association. She returned to work in 1976 in the human services field as senior secretary, first for Family Service of Middletown, then moved to Junior Achievement of Middletown, of which both are United Way agencies, and finally moved up to administrative assistant for Middletown Area United Way, retiring in 1996. After retiring, she worked part-time for the Middletown Community Foundation under the direction of both Norman Hayes and Kay Wright. During her retirement she also worked for a short time for The Fourth-R Computer Training & Solutions, teaching children about computers - or as she used to say, “they taught her”.
Nancy belonged to the Women´s Center and served on the Board of Directors for several years. She is a past member of Holy Family Parish Council and served as Eucharistic Minister at church. She was the staff-chair of the “Tom Browning Celebrity United Way Golf Outing” for many years. She volunteered many hours during the 3 years of the Middletown Balloon Festival Competition. She was also an active volunteer at Middletown Regional Hospital, earning more than 3050 hours. Nancy will be sadly missed by her many friends and family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 6-8 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr. Interment will be at Springboro Cemetery.
