Newton Wilmot Flower, 88, of Monroe, died Sunday, October 28, 2007, at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village. He was born in Blackfork, Ohio on May 20, 1919 to parents Emmamuel M. and Maude (Henry) Flower.
Mr. Flower worked as a tin smith for General Motors for 25 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Breiel Blvd. First Church of God where he served as an usher and sang in the choir.
Newton is survived by two sons, John (Melanie) Flower and Stephen (Becky) Flower; grandchildren, Tonya Deem, Kevin Flower, Amy (Kenny) McLain, Angela (Hank) Ray, Allison (Matt) Reed; great grandchildren, Morgan & Dakota Deem, Tag Tucker, Gracie McLain, Cannon & Marleigh Ray.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian (Grubb) Flower; his parents; sisters, Dorothy Walters, Katherine Walters, and Anna Belle Flower; and brothers, Herbert, Hubert, Harold, Gilbert, & Ralph Flower.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Breiel Blvd. First Church of God with Reverend Dr. Eric Newell officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the church. Interment will be at North Monroe Cemetery.
