Nicholas "Nick" Konstantinos Ververis, 88, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 14, 1936, in Polykarpi, Greece, to Konstantinos and Lithari Ververis.
Nick immigrated to the United States from Greece by way of South America. He settled in Middletown, Ohio, where he met his beloved wife, Thalia, and began a family. A dedicated and hardworking man, Nick retired from Armco Steel after 30 years of service, leaving behind a legacy of diligence and commitment. A devout member of the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen, Nick’s artistic talents were cherished as he painted many of the church’s icons. He was also an active and proud member of the Order of AHEPA Chapter 209 for 60+ years, serving as District Governor and dedicating himself to the organization’s mission of promoting Hellenism, education, and philanthropy.
Nick is survived by his sons, Dean N. Ververis of Cincinnati, Ohio, Chris N. (Barbara) Ververis of Middletown, Ohio, and Angelo N. (Stacy) Ververis of Superior, Montana; his brothers, George (Maria) Ververis and Dimitrios (Maria) Ververis; and his grandchildren, Mark, Mica, Josh, Alex, Nicholas and Kaleb; great grandchildren; cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thalia (Thomas) Ververis; his son, Stavro N. Ververis; his parents, Konstantinos and Lithari Ververis; his brother, Jordan Ververis; and his granddaughter, Ashley Ververis.
Nick will be remembered as a devoted family man, a proud bearer of his Greek heritage, master gardener, iconographer, excellent cook, and a committed member of his community. His kindness, dedication, and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be January 16, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2500 Grand Avenue, Middletown, OH, 45044. AHEPA service will begin at 11:00 am followed by the funeral service with Father Anthony Cook officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery and Arboretum.
Nick was very passionate in his support of many organizations that were close to his heart.
