Nick G. Vitori

Nick G. Vitori, 84, passed away the evening of Tuesday, July 10, 2007, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Born in Middletown in 1923 to Pasquale & Erminia (Greco) Vitori, Nick was the last living of their three sons. He was predeceased by his older brother Frank, who was killed on July 4th, 1945 while serving in World War II, and his younger brother, John who passed away in 2004. Nick was Valedictorian of the Class of 1941 at Monroe High School, was selected to attend Boys State in 1941 and completed his junior year at Miami University before he was drafted into the Army, where he became a First Lieutenant. Upon returning in 1946, he married Grace Amatulli, the eldest daughter of Peter and Frances Amatulli and after a glorious month honeymooning in New York City, the newlyweds took the helm at Vitori's Grocery in Mayfield, where they worked together every day for 61 years. Relenting to retirement this past Memorial Day, Nick did as he wanted, spending his life dutifully behind the counter as his father did before him. Nick's undying commitment to his family's heritage and his stalwart sense of integrity and honor was apparent to everyone who knew him and serves as an inspiration to all.

Nick is survived by his wife, Grace (Amatulli) Vitori; son, Dennis (Suzi) Vitori of Middletown; granddaughter, Ami Vitori; and numerous nieces, nephews, & in-laws.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Friday, July 13, 2007 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
