Norma J. McVay, 89, of Monroe, died on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Ohio Living Mt. Pleasant. She was born on October 4, 1929, in Massillon, Ohio, to parents Ralph C. and Helen (Drury) Knight.

Mrs. McVay was a homemaker who loved to garden, travel, read and solve puzzles. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Middletown, the Presbyterian Women’s Association, the sanctuary choir, the handbell choir and volunteered for the Kindergarten Readiness program. Norma retired in 1990 from Middletown High School, where she was a Teacher. She also volunteered and conducted a sewing class at the Middletown Community Center.

Norma is survived by her loving daughters, Diana McVay, Beth (Dan) McMullen, Susan (Robert) Honious and Carol McVay; her grandchildren, Heather, Rachel, Rebecca and Sarah; and her siblings, Elizabeth Ann (John) Smythe and Richard M. (Betty) Knight.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Carl S. McVay; and her brothers, John Phillip Knight and Ralph D. Knight.

A Memorial Service to honor Norma’s life will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at 1:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 2910 Central Ave, Middletown, OH 45044, with Pastor Michael Isaacs officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 644 Linn St, Suite #1026, Cincinnati, OH 45203 or to the First Presbyterian Church Music Program, 2910 Central Ave, Middletown, Ohio 45044.
