Norma (Phillips) Rhodes, 92, of Trenton, died on October 28, 2006 at Garden Manor Retirement Village. She was born in Middletown on January 31, 1914 to parents Arthur H. Sr. and Bertha (Tewart) Phillips.
Norma was a lifelong resident of Middletown and a graduate of Middletown High School. She was a seamstress all of her life, making quilts for herself, her family, and friends. An avid cook and baker, her potato salad, yeast buns, and cinnamon rolls will be greatly missed. Norma loved listening to the Reds on the radio, watching the Bengals and listening to Rush Limbaugh. She had a passion for newspaper reading and crossword puzzles.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, M.Cecil Rhodes in 1948; a daughter, Judith Ann Rhodes Haynes; parents; brothers, Winfred, Arthur Jr., and Raymond Phillips; and great grandson, Shawn Everett Smith. She is survived by her son, Merle C. (Arlene) Rhodes and daughter, Joyce L. Cottle, both of Trenton; sister Mildred Phillips Kinder of Leavenworth, KS; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown with Reverend Paul Mills officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
