Ralph E. “Red” Evans, 83, of Middletown, died on Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Willow Knoll Retirement Community. He was born in Goshen, Ohio on January 15, 1921 to parents Ebon Dale and Teona (Pickleheimer) Evans.
Mr. Evans served during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps. He was employed as a welder at Armco Steel Co., retiring in 1980 after 40 years. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Mr. Evans helped organize and start the LeSourdsville Volunteer Fire Department and served as Assistant Chief. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #218 and the Monroevers Camping Club.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Florence (Martin) Evans; one son; Reverend Michael Edward (Patricia) Evans of Middletown; two granddaughters, Catherine Leah (Jay) Evans of Middletown and Julia Lynn (Anthony) Saeli of New Hudson, MI; three great grandchildren, Lorien and Hope Evans and Sophia Saeli.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert D. Evans and a sister, Lillian G. Ihle.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 7, 2005 at 2:00 PM at Christ United Methodist Church, 700 S. Marshall Road, Middletown, with Reverend Lisa Ellison officiating. Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 2005 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at Christ United Methodist Church. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum.
