Rev. James Lavon Kinser, 73, of Middletown, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Asphalt, Kentucky on February 5, 1940 to parents Riley and Maggie (Ashley) Kinser.
Jim first served as minister of Southland Church of Christ in Bedford, Indiana for 6 years, then at Central Church of Christ in Davenport, Iowa for 4 years then made Middletown his home and served as minister of Bonita Drive Church of Christ, which became Crosspointe Church of Christ, for the next 33 years. He served as chaplain for Hospice Care of Middletown and Atrium Medical Center. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Rev. Kinser is survived by his wife, Patty (Norris) Kinser; four children, Jill (Jeff) Slater, Andy (Julie) Kinser, Lori (Jay) Lakes & Matt (Katie) Kinser; brothers, Jack (Carmen) Kinser & Ron (Betty Jean) Kinser; sisters, Gloria (Randall) Miller & Betty Lou (Joe) Deckard; brother-in-law, John (Barbara) Trisler; and ten grandchildren, Eli & Emma Slater, Lukas, Olivia & Drew Kinser, Maddie & Mason Lakes, Karli & Aiden Kinser and Konnor Black.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Gaudis McGrew, Irene Skaggs & Shirley Callender.
Funeral Service will be held Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Crosspointe Church of Christ, 5630 State Route 122, Franklin with Minister Scott Johnson and Minister Jeff Slater officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm and prior to the service from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at the church. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, Indiana on Monday, July 22, 2013 with graveside service at 1:00 pm.
