Richard A. Parmer

Richard Andrew Parmer of Middletown, Ohio passed away on March 6, 2012 at the Atrium Medical Center.

Mr. Parmer was born May 29, 1931 in Burnsville, West Virginia, the son of Gilford and Mae Parmer. He spent his childhood in the Burnsville area. He was a graduate and Valedictorian of the Burnsville High School Class of 1949. He played several sports while in attendance there. He later graduated from Glenville State Teachers College in 1953. He served in the US Army Intelligence Signal Corp during the Korean War, after which he then attended the University of West Virginia.

Mr. Parmer retired from the Middletown Public School District after a 35 year teaching career. He received a John. F. Kennedy Fellowship Award at the University of Georgia in Physics and Astronomy and other professional awards, and served on several education committees. After his retirement, he worked an additional 15 years for the First Financial Bank of Hamilton.

Mr. Parmer was a supporter and volunteer in the community. He Co-Chaired with his wife, Carolyn, The Charity Ball, in support of the Middletown Hospital. He served 15 years as the President of the City of Middletown Board of Zoning Appeals. He was a member of the F. and A.M. Jefferson Lodge.

Mr. Parmer was preceded in death by his parents Mae and Gilford Parmer; his sisters, Ruth Bodkin and Ercelyn Brown; and brothers, Doyl Parmer and Lawrence Parmer.
Mr. Parmer is survived by his wife Carolyn Parmer; daughter Sherry Parmer, and her husband, Dr. Scott Richardson and their daughter, Lexi Richardson; daughter Richadetta Perallon , and her husband, Dr. Robert Perallon and their daughter Hope; and his son, Lance Parmer.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 17 at 10AM and Memorial Service at 11AM at the Wilson Schramm Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. There will be a private family burial.

Memorial donations may be given to the Middletown Community Foundation Scholarship Fund, 300 North Main St., Middletown, OH 45044.
