Richard Heber Jones, 78, a lifelong resident of Middletown, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties.
He was born October 20, 1931, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Clarence Heber and Mary (Bush) Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Louise (Geary) Jones, brother Phillip Heber "Buddy" Jones, and infant grandson Ricky.
Mr. Jones co-owned the local Heber Jones Oldsmobile/Cadillac dealership with his brother, Buddy, for many years. He was a graduate of Miami University, where he was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was an avid golfer, and longtime member of Forest Hills Country Club. In retirement, he spent much of his time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Fiessinger and husband Richard of Middletown; sons Geary and wife Kara of Houston, TX, and Richard Jr. of Middletown; daughters Kelly Jones Malson and husband Richard, of Seattle, Wash., Kerry Louise Wieneke and husband David of Middletown, and Suzanne Fening and husband Mike of Middletown; and 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Parish - St. John Church with Monsignor Paul Metzger as celebrant. Internment will be at Mound Cemetery in Monroe.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 120 Wall Street, 19th floor, New York, New York, 10005.
