Richard Woodbury Polleys, Jr.

Richard Woodbury Polleys, Jr., 82, of Middletown, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Dayton to parents Richard W. and Lucille J. (Sims) Polleys Sr.

Mr. Polleys earned his B.S. from University of Cincinnati and his M.B.A. from Xavier University. He worked for General Electric for 12 years as a technical writer then in business administration for the State of Ohio Department of Corrections, from which he retired in 1992. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps as a member of the 29th Bomber Group 52nd Bombardment Squadron during World War II, serving in Guam. He was a life member of the Middletown Sportsman's Club.

Mr. Polleys is survived by his wife, Julia C. (Childs) Polleys; sons, Richard W. (Barbara) Polleys III and Timothy L. (Patricia) Polleys; daughter, Denise M. Jeavons; brother, James A. Polleys; grandchildren, Elizabeth R. Polleys, Stephen L. Polleys, Robert W. Polleys, Colin M. Polleys, and Christine H. Jeavons; nephew, Michael McCann; and many other special nieces & nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, William R. Polleys Sr.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 10:00 am at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
