Rita Louise Mandzak

Rita Louise Mandzak, 98, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Ohio Living Mt. Pleasant. She was born in Middletown on August 16, 1918, the youngest child of Joseph and Theresa (Shade) Regensburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Robert, Thomas & Joseph Regensburg; three sisters, Stella McKelly, Adele Stiles & Anna Youtsler; her husband, John F. Mandzak; one grandchild, John Scott Hayes; and one great grandchild, Conner Mandzak

Mrs. Mandzak leaves to cherish her memory her five children, Marilyn (John) Hayes, John (Ginny) Mandzak, David (Sandy) Mandzak, Donald Mandzak & Lesa (Rob) New; eleven grandchildren, Betsy (Leo) Dipasquale, Bryan (Adrienne) Mandzak, Brad Mandzak, Michelle (Jody) Mallicote, Jake Mandzak, Sara (Cam) Vincent, Aaron (Rachel) Mandzak, Christyn New, Alyssa, Lauren & Travis (Hayes) Stalzer; 21 great grandchildren; sister-in-law; as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

While Rita was raising her first three children, she worked from home as the bookkeeper for The Corner Men's Shop, her husband's place of business. After her five children were raised, she went to work for the Middletown School System and Fenwick. She worked as a cashier in the cafeteria of both the Middle School and the High School. Rita always had a strong devotion to her faith. She was a lifelong member of Holy Family Parish. She participated in small group discussions and held weekly Cenacle meetings in her home. She enjoyed spending time with her family and with her friends at the Senior Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 27, 2017 at 11:00 am at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:00 - 10:30 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
