Robert D. Mccandless

Robert D. McCandless, 83, of Middletown, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at home. He was born in Hamilton on August 23, 1927 to parents Robert J. and Irene (Hancok) McCandless.

Robert graduated from Middletown High School, Class of 1945. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired in 1982 after 36 years with the Engineering Department of Armco Steel Corp.

Mr. McCandless is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara (Janka) McCandless; brother, Thomas D. (Susan) McCandless; niece, Debra (Tom) Sawyer; and nephew, Thomas D. (Victoria) McCandless II.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 31, 2011 at 11:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Steven Hill, Chaplain officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum.
