Robert F. Ryan

Robert F. Ryan, 87, of Middletown, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Middletown, on April 30, 1921 to parents Albert J. and Cora F. (Lichtenfels) Ryan.

Mr. Ryan was a 1939 graduate of Middletown High School. He started work at the family business, A.J. Ryan & Son on Central Ave., then went on to work as a carrier for the post office, where he retired from in 1982 after 20 years. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was a life member of the Marine Corps League, the VFW #3809, and the American Legion Post 218, where he was a member of the Honor Guard for 38 years. He was also a lifelong member of Holy Family Parish, longtime member of the Mayfield Volunteer Fire Department and was secretary/treasurer of the Butler County Fireman's Association for many years.
Mr. Ryan is survived by his wife, Rita (Schaiper) Ryan; sons, Robert J. (Sharon) Ryan and Thomas A. (Karen) Ryan; daughter, Judy (Don) Dixon; grandchildren, Rob (Lori) Ryan, Christy (Tim) Biddle, Andrew (Christina) Ryan, Nathen (Ruth) Ryan, Molly (T.J.) Lairson, Jessica Banks, Sam Ryan, Ben Ryan, Jeffrey (Yvonne) Ryan, Amy (Dan) Holtgrefe, Seth (Nann) Ryan, Angela (Rob) Chirico, Becky (Jeff) Eschmeyer, and Christopher Dixon; and 27 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Eric Ryan; and great granddaughter, Samantha Lairson.

The family wished to extend their thanks to Dr. Butler for his tireless efforts and genuine concern.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 18, 2008 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church, 201 Clark Street, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, OH. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
