Robert K. Cravens

Robert K. Cravens, 93, of Monroe, passed away peacefully surrounded by family & friends on Sunday, February 10, 2013, at West Chester Hospital. He was born in Lawrenceville, Illinois on September 9, 1919 to parents Herbert L. and Elizabeth (Stork) Cravens.

Robert worked in the Engineering Department of the Ohio Department of Transportation. He served his country with the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II, serving at both Iwo Jima & Okinawa. He was a member of the N.R.A., the Tin Can Sailors Association, was a life member of the Elks and life member of the Navy League. Robert was an avid golfer, which he was active doing until he was 89 years old and was also an avid gardener.

Mr. Cravens is survived by his daughter, A. Paulette (Ernie) Lujan; brother-in-law, John P. (Vilma) Erb; special friend, LaRetta Olivarez; and nieces & nephews, Lisa (Michael) Dye, Paul Christopher (Emercita) Erb, Dr. Edward (Marti) Erb, Beth (Terry) Espelage & Thomas Erb.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret A. Cravens in 1997; daughter, Janis A. Cravens in 2007; parents; and brothers, Richard Cravens & Leonard Cravens.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Crossroads Hospice (Cincinnati) for their care.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
