Robert L. Forsythe

Robert L. Forsythe (Bob), 72, departed this world on Monday, November 13, 2006. He was born March 19, 1934, in West Bend, Iowa to Roy and Regina Forsythe. Bob attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic Grade School and graduated from West Bend High School before serving in the U.S. Navy from 1952 until 1956. He attended Mankato State University, located in Mankato Minnesota, and graduated in 1959. In April 1959, he joined the Tennant Company, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and moved his family shortly thereafter to Middletown, Ohio. Bob spent his entire professional career with the Tennant Company, and upon his retirement in 2000, received recognition as the company’s longest-term employee. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Bev, whom he married on December 27, 1956. He is also survived by five children, Barb Bokenkotter (Glenn), Mike, Patti, Tom (Amy), and Tim (Kristin); six grandchildren, Amy and Ryan Bokenkotter, Miranda and Cameron Forsythe, and Ryan and Callie Forsythe; three brothers and three sisters, and their respective spouses; and three brother-in-laws and four sister-in-laws, and their respective spouses. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother. Bob spent a majority of his retirement years traveling with his wife Bev, including spending the winter months in Donna, Texas. He was a member of Holy Family Parish in Middletown, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club of Weslaco, Texas, and the American Legion Post 0425 of Whittemore, Iowa. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of Mt. Pleasant in Monroe for the excellent care they provided throughout the last weeks of his life. Bob was a faithful Christian servant, and lived a satisfied and fulfilled life; he was a dedicated and loyal husband, father and friend. A memorial mass will be held in December at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Middletown. Arrangements are being made by Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (www.jamesline.com).
