Robert Schul

Robert K. Schul, age 86, of Middletown, OH, died Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Bickford of Middletown in Middletown, OH. He was born September 28, 1937, in Troy, Ohio to parents Willard and Katherine (Keyser) Schul. 

 Robert was a teacher for the Dayton City Schools. Bob served in the Air Force and began his serious running career. He was fortunate to train under Mikail Igloi along with other outstanding American runners. In 1964, he ran in the Tokyo Olympics and place first in the 5000 Meter race. When returning to Ohio, he pursued his dream of coaching students at Wright State University, Wayne High School, and his personal track club.

He is survived by his daughter Robin (Eric) Thurber, two grandchildren, brothers David (Carole) Schul and Norman (Marianne) Schul.Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Lawrence Schul.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.Arrangements are being handled by Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home.
