Robert W. Douglass, 80, of Trenton, died Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Frankfort, Indiana on February 17, 1922 to parents Fred W. and Mary (Schenck) Douglass.
Mr. Douglass was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army, where he was recipient of the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 218. He worked as a finishing carpenter for Shook Construction for 50 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Trenton Lion's Club and Trenton Moose Lodge #330. He was president of Miltonville Cemetery Association.
Robert is survived by his daughters, JoAnn (Jim) Kallick of Trenton and Marilyn Barber of Orlando, Florida; his brother, George A. (Marilyn) Douglass of Trenton; seven grandchildren Kimberly Kallick-Taylor, Jim Kallick, Steve Kallick, Brian Barber, Stacey Prakash, Mark Douglass, and Gary Douglass; eleven great grandchildren; and three close friends of the family, Maxine Shannon, Judy Douglass, and Brenda Reed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Schmidt) Douglass on December 17, 1995; a son, Fred W. Douglass; and his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 1, 2003 at 10:30 AM at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father George Klein as celebrant. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr. Interment will be at Miltonville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Trenton Rescue Squad, c/o Trenton City Building, 11 East State Street, Trenton, OH 45067.
