Rodney Turner, 70, a long-time resident of Middletown and Franklin passed away on April 9th, 2023 after battling Alzheimer’s. Rodney was a Middletown High School Graduate, class of 1971, and remained active throughout his life in class of ’71 social activities. Following his high school graduation, Rodney began working at Armco Steel and eventually found his fit in the department of electrical construction. He retired after 33.5 years. Rodney is from a family of 5 children who have all remained close into adulthood. He attended Grace Baptist Church for 40+ years, rarely missing a Sunday service.
Rodney is preceded in death by his wife Patricia in 2010, who he loved deeply. They shared many great years together and he faithfully cared for her throughout her brave battle with cancer. Rodney is also preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virginia Turner. Rod and his mother grew closer in later years and they could often be found at local Middletown restaurants enjoying his favorite activity, dining out, together. Rodney’s pride and joy were his children and his grandchildren. He looked forward to time spent with them. He took his daughter, Heather, on multiple trips to Disney as a kid, instilling a love for the Magic Kingdom, which she still visits yearly with her children. Rodney had a passion for American muscle cars and could be found in the 1980s in a burgundy Pontiac Firebird with leaky T-tops. He passed his passion for cars and 70’s music down to his son, Eric, and they enjoyed listening to Jethro Tull, The Guess Who, Grand Funk Railroad and The Band together.
Rodney leaves behind his daughter, Heather Mason, of Middletown; son, Eric (Heather) Turner, of Columbus; four siblings, Cheryl (Denny) Baker, Robin (Jim) Ruthemeyer, Tim (Chris) Turner, Carrie (Greg) Madden; and 3 grandchildren, Brooklyne (Trevor) Swaney, Madelyne (Antonio Williams) Mason & Logan Mason; and two great-grandchildren, Greyson Swaney, & Emersyn Williams.
