Roger D. Downs, 60, of Franklin, died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. He was born & raised in Middletown, the son of Woodrow and Elsie Downs.
Roger worked at Wausau Paper Company for 40 years. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather & uncle. He was an avid hunter & fisherman. He will be remembered for his infectious sense of humor and how he made so many people laugh with his witty comments.
Mr. Downs is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Paula Downs; daughters, Jennifer (Cliff) Thoroughman & Stacey (Jeff Denson Jr.) Downs; son, Matthew Downs; grandson, Carson Thoroughman; sister, Frieda (Dave) Pitkin; nieces, Carma (Paul Clark) Downs, Kim (Mark) Poe & Shannon (Tommy Chandler) Haines; nephews, Casey (Sabrina) Downs & Dusty Haines; 5 great nieces and 4 great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert & Kelly Downs; nephews, Jason Haines, Benjy Haines & Christopher Moon; and great nephews, Bobby Downs & Adam Haines.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Father John Civille officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
