Roger D. South 74 of Middletown died on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Butler-Warren Hospice. He was born in Middletown on April 25, 1937 to parents Glen & Thelma ( Lewis) South. Roger retired in 1989 from the Middletown Fire Department after 30 years service as an Assistant Fire Chief. He was affiliated with Fenwick High School for 35 years, he scouted for them. He started the 8th grade Knights of Columbus football team which is now the John XXIII team. He was tri captain of the Fenwick Football team in 1953. In 2005 he was inducted into the Bishop Fenwick High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He lived for his kids and grand kids sporting events. He and his wife Barbara would have been married 55 years June 23. They loved to travel and take the grandchildren with them.
Roger is survived by his wife Barbara ( Piedel) South, two sons David (Julie) South and Paul J. (Sharon) South, a daughter Barb (Greg) Robertson, six grandchildren; Dr. Chris (Julie) South, Jamie (Sharon) South, Jimmy, Joey & Jennifer Robertson and Adam South , two great-grandchildren Brooks & Ali South, three brothers Daniel (Judy) South, Butch (Kathy) South, Eugene (Sharon) South, four sisters Mickey (Lacy) Wilson, Sandy (Steven) DeJarnette, Debbie Robinson and Laura (Ed)Munoz.
Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Holy Family Parish-St. Johns Church at 10:00 am, Father John Civille officiating , visitation Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. Memorials may be made to The Fenwick Football Program, 4855 St. Route 122, Franklin, Oh 45005.
