Ronald Joe Jones, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Ronnie was born in Middletown, Ohio, to Hallie and Eileen Jones. Alongside his younger brother Larry (Hal), he spent his early years in Mayfield before the family moved to a farm in West Elkton during his teenage years. He met the love of his life, Marilyn Hough, and the two were married soon after graduating from West Elkton High School. Their union marked the beginning of a partnership filled with love, shared adventures, and unwavering devotion.
Together, Ronnie and Marilyn raised two sons, Ron and Terry, who became the center of his world. Ronnie balanced working at Armco with his true passion, coaching his sons in baseball and being an active part of their lives. He was a constant presence at practices and games, cheering them on with pride and enthusiasm.
The family spent every summer camping at Myrtle Beach Travel Park, a cherished tradition that grew to include lifelong friends and, eventually, grandchildren. Ronnie and Marilyn continued this annual trip until just a few years ago, creating memories that spanned generations.
Ronnie retired from Armco in 1991. During his retirement, Ronnie indulged his love of classic cars by restoring a 1940 Ford coupe with his sons. After sitting in a field for several decades, he, his sons, and close friends transformed the coupe into a stunning hot rod—a true labor of love. Before, during, and after the restoration, Ronnie loved spending time at car shows to show off the coupe, get ideas, buy parts, and make lifelong friends.
At their beautiful country home in Jacksonburg, Ronnie and Marilyn spent all of their time together and enjoyed gardening, yard work, and hobbies that kept them happily busy.
Ronnie was the proud grandfather of three: Kyle, Leanne, and Jessi, and the adoring great-grandfather to four girls: Kasey, Kally, Roman, and Lane. Whether working on cars in the garage, riding the tractor, or attending their sporting events and dance recitals, Ronnie’s love and presence were constants in their lives. His hugs, his humor, and his welcoming lap were treasures for all of his grand- and great-grandchildren.
Ronnie and Marilyn shared a remarkable bond—one of unwavering love, affection, and partnership. Their enduring marriage was a testament to the power of friendship, respect, and devotion.
Ronnie will be remembered for his big heart, infectious sense of humor, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. He leaves behind a family who cherishes his memory and a legacy of love that will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him.
He will be deeply missed but forever held in the hearts of those who loved him.
