Ronald Gordon Wood (aka “Pidge” or “Woody”) passed away on January 16, 2024 at the age of 79. Ron is survived by Mary, his wife of 59 years, his children, Laurie and Scott (Liz), and grandchildren: Tucker, Trent, Tessa, Tate and Tori. He is also survived by many other family members and special friends. He is preceded in death by parents Chester and Helen Wood, and siblings John Wood and Bonnie Edwards.
Ron was born on May 18, 1944 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. He graduated from Middletown High in 1962 and retired from ARMCO after 30 years of service in 1992. Ron was a skilled master machinist, successful bowhunter and fisherman, who enjoyed racing pigeons, sports, playing pool, camping, animals and riding trail bikes. A few of Ron’s life achievements include: Eagle Scout, 32 Degree Mason, Shriner, and Church Elder. Ron was a dedicated member and leader of the Spring Hill Church of Christ.
There are not enough words to express how thankful and blessed we are for our loving family and friends from the Memory Care Unit at The Winfield at Middletown and the incredible staff and volunteers from Hospice Care of Middletown.
A celebration of life gathering has been planned for Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 11:00 - 1:30 in the 3rd floor tourette room at The Winfield at Middletown, 3000 McGee Ave., Middletown. All family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate “Woody”.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice Care of Middletown (4418 Lewis St. B, Middletown, Ohio 45044) or PAWS (Progressive Animal Welfare Society), 6302 Crossings Blvd., Monroe, Ohio 45050.
