Rudolph Opavsky, 95, of Middletown, died Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at The Woodlands of Middletown. He was born in Hamilton on December 4, 1916 to parents Rudolph and Stella (Polakovich) Opavsky.
Rudolph worked as a clerk at the former Swarcz Grocery. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He attended Holy Family Parish and was a member of the American Legion Post 218 and the Czechoslovakian Club in Dayton.
Mr. Opavsky is survived by his niece, Jean A. (Steve) Burgan; great nieces, Nicole Opesky & Holly (Jason) Brewer and great nephew, Shane Burgan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Opesky; nephew, Edward S. Opesky; and great niece, Jacqueline Opesky.
Prayer Service will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Father John Civille officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Miami Valley, 46 North Detroit St., Xenia, Ohio 45385.
