Russell "Bill" Berry

Russell D. "Bill" Berry, 84, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 2, 1930 to parents Russell and Fern (Stamper) Berry.

Bill graduated from Monroe High School in 1948 and married Jeanne Graft that July. He served in the United States Air Force & was honorably discharged in 1949. He worked as an electrician with I.B.E.W. Local 648, retiring in 1992. He was a proud member since 1954, serving as president, executive board member and on many other committees. Bill was an active church member, formerly with the E.U.B. church in Middletown and presently with Hope United Methodist Church in Hunter. He was a founding member and first president of the Hunter Hills Swim Club to the delight of his children. He was an avid golfer, recording seven hole-in-one's and was a member of Wildwood Golf Club since 1957, serving on their board in past years. Bill loved to compete, be it at golf, cards, horseshoes or anything as long as it involved his family and friends.

Bill was a devoted husband, loving father & grandfather, loyal friend and gentle man and is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jeanne Berry; sons, Tim (Carol) Berry & Steve (Wendy Lobell) Berry; daughters, Cindy Roberts & Heather (Bill) Wooley; sister, Nancy Brown; brother-in-law, Jack Graft; grandchildren, Nick Berry, Noah Berry, Ryan (Cori Weatherington) Roberts, Aria Bonsignore-Berry, Laura Wooley, Michael Wooley & Ian Wooley; great grandchildren, Haley & Chloe Roberts; his best friend, Maggie; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, friends & workmates.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Cox; and dear grandson, Andrew Roberts.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Ann Myers officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm with I.B.E.W service at 7:15 pm and Masonic service at 7:30 pm and prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 am.
