Russell E. Morgan, 71, of Franklin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, died Saturday, August 3, 2002 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Beallsville, Ohio, on Nov. 10, 1930. The adopted son of Wesley and Nora Oneacre. Mr. Morgan served 9 years in the Army, during the occupation of Germany and the Korean Conflict, where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was employed by Chrysler Airtemp of Dayton for 13 years, and NCR Corporation for 17 years, until his retirement in 1994. Russell attended First United Methodist Church of Franklin and supported the First Church of God. He loved people and never was tired of helping others. The family is grateful to the nursing staff of 3 South at Kettering Memorial Hospital and Hospice of Middletown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eileen Cronin; and a grandson, Zachary Morgan.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mabel (Mapel) Morgan; 2 sons, Nyle E. (Dawn) Morgan of Middletown and Dana K. Morgan of Englewood; 3 grandchildren, Laura (Michael) Morgan-Staggs, Joshua Morgan, and Molly Morgan; a great-grandchild, Shelby Anne Morgan; his natural mother, Loree(Morris) Darby; a brother, Don (Ann) Darby of Elizabethtown, Ky.; and many friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita., with the Rev. Diann O'Bryant and Pastor Frank Curtis officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Middletown, 4414 Lewis St., Middletown, Oh. 45044.
