Ruth D. (Edwards) Hackney, 93, of Monroe, died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village. She was born in Morehead, Kentucky on August 4, 1913 to parents Harry and Zella (Jones) Edwards.
Mrs. Hackney worked as a hairdresser. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she was a member of the Women's Relief Society, she loved animals, and was an excellent cook.
Ruth is survived by one brother, Harry Edwards of Florida; dear friend, Jean Dobrozsi of Middletown; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Brooks Hackney in 1972; her parents; and sisters, Virginia Eames and Donna Louise Edwards.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 29, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown, with Bishop Mike Gassaway officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
