Ruth Elaine Hunter, 88, of Middletown, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at Hawthorn Glen Nursing Home. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on November 2, 1915 to Fred and Ruth (Ruwe) Jones.
Ruth worked as a secretary for the Ohio Department of Transportation District 8, retiring in 1995 after 42 years of service.
Ruth is survived by one son, John (DeAnn) Martin of Middletown; two daughters, Joan (Jim) Lindsay of Houston, TX, and Sally E. Hunter of Middletown, OH; one brother, Fred (Dorothy) Jones of Hamilton, OH; four grandchildren, John C. Martin, III, Jared (Josie) Martin, Amy Lindsay, and Dr. Heather (Rob) DeCardenas; and one great grandchild, Augustus Lang.
She was preceded in death by husbands John C. Martin in 1948, and Jiles H. Hunter in 1983; her parents; a brother, Warren Jones; and a sister, Bette McFall.
The family extends special thanks to Hawthorn Glen, especially Diane and Debbie and all of Ruth’s friends at ODOT.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Friday, from 6-8 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., Middletown, OH. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
