Ruth S. Becker

Ruth S. Becker, 90, of Middletown, Ohio, died on Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village, Monroe, Ohio. She was born in Akron, Ohio on April 6, 1913 to parents John and Nettie Fern (Phalen) Sowers.

Mrs. Becker had an undergraduate degree from the University of Akron and Master´s degree in library science from University of Illinois. She taught at Akron-Garfield High School for 18 years. She had lived in St. Mary´s, Ohio for 14 years.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Paul R. Becker in 1981.

She is survived by one son: Paul (Robin) Becker of Middletown, Ohio; one sister: Thelma Farmer of Weslaco, Texas; granddaughter, Lindsay Becker of Middletown, Ohio; grandson, Adam Becker of Middletown, Ohio.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at Billow’s Fairlawn Chapel, Akron, Ohio. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Akron, Ohio.
