Shelby L. Guthman

Shelby Lee Guthman,18, of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Kettering on January 13, 2006 to parents, Robert and Michelle A. (Swartzel) Guthman.

Shelby liked to bake and paint and enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether she playing softball, camping, tubing or swimming. And Shelby loved her dogs, Willow, Toby and Ollie. Shelby received a liver transplant 6 years ago, and while she struggled with numerous health issues, she stayed strong, positive, sweet, and thoughtful of others throughout. 

Shelby was such a light in the lives of all who knew her and she will be greatly missed by her parents, Robert & Michelle; her sister, Gabrielle Guthman; maternal grandparents, Donald & Lucille Swartzel; her best friend, Hazel Moon; aunts, Debbie (Steve) Rogers, Mary Ann Worley & Patty (Gene) Kempfer; uncle, David (Jenny) Swartzel; cousins, Kelly (Bart) Lane, Jenny Miller, Julie Downey, Danielle (Taylor) Briggs, Drew Swartzel, Jordyn Swartzel, Steve E. Rogers, Keith (Nanko) Miller & Brian Kempfer; close 2nd cousins, Sophie Lane, Joseph Lane & Kyle Miller; as well as many other loving family & friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert & Mary Guthman.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd (at Bonita Dr.) Middletown. Funeral Service will be Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Steve Moon officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery and Arboretum.
