Shirley A. Wenzel, widow of the Dr. Thomas Wenzel who practiced in Middletown for nearly 25 years, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011. She was a member of Holy Family Parish – Holy Trinity Church since 1947. She was active in the League of Women voters for almost 12 years. She was an avid golfer and played on the local courses over the years and was a member of Forest Hills Country Club at one time. She was a member of the Red Cross Blood Pressure team for many years and member of the Board of Trustees of Eldorado Estates at one time. She loved to play bridge and belonged to many clubs. She had a very large family, Barbara A. a home nurse in New York City, Bill Wenzel of Springboro, Jim of Florida, John of Columbus, and predeceased Thomas and Richard. There are 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 4, 2011 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 330 Lebanon Street, Monroe with Father Ed Pratt as celebrant. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
