Sondra S. Ross, 78, of Liberty Township, died Thursday, December 28, 2017, at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. She was born in Dayton on April 15, 1939 to parents Harry and Roslyn (Antman) Schear.
Sondra graduated from Fairview High School then attended University of Michigan and Boston University and received her Master's degree from NYU. She taught English at Walnut Hills High School and Miami University. She also co-founded the Montessori Nursery School in Middletown. She was a past president of Temple Beth Sholom. Sondra was an avid supporter of performing arts including being a patron of Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park for over 50 years and supporter of the Cincinnati Ensemble Theater. She was also a political activist.
Mrs. Ross was a loving wife, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed by her husband of 52 years, Fred L. Ross; sons, David (Inga) Ross of Monterrey, CA, Adam (Heather) Ross of West Chester & Matthew (Sue) Ross of Gurnee, IL; sisters, Brenda Rinzler of Dayton & Rica (Stuart) Hodesh of Cincinnati; sister-in-law, Reggie Finkleman of Cincinnati; and grandchildren, Nicole, Alex, Samuel, Jacob, Hailey & Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law, Allan Rinzler & H.O. Finkleman.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 10:00 am at Temple Beth Sholom, 610 Gladys Dr., Middletown with Rabbi Haviva Horvitz officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Beth Abraham Cemetery, 1817 W. Schantz Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45409 at 12:00 noon on Wednesday. Shiva Service will be Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm.
