Thomas A. Mccain

Thomas A. McCain, 89, died Friday at Middletown Regional Hospital. Born September 22, 1912, he is now home with the Lord he loved, his wife Hazel, who passed away a little over one year ago, his earthly father Levenell (Levi) S. McCain who died when Tom was 10 months old, his mother Anna (Curran) McCain and brother John McCain.
Tom is survived by his two sons, Thomas (Linda) and John (Debby) McCain; daughters Sue Ann (David) Day and Theresa (Mike) Housh; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren.
Tom will forever be remembered by those who knew him for his incredible sense of humor. "The youngest guy in town with old kids" as Tom like to refer to himself, never met a person that he couldn't bring a little sunshine into their lives. Tom was active in theatre from the time of his youth at Holy Trinity Elementary School and through most of his adult life. He wrote and directed a movie that aired on TV in the 50's.
Tom was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a dedicated Armco employee for 45 years who retired in 1974. Tom was a lifetime member of Holy Family Parish, and a member of the Knights of Columbus for over fifty years. He was an avid auto racing fan, drove midget cars in the 50's, and was a member of the Winchester Speedway "Old Timers Club".
Special thanks to Judi Fetzer Alexander, Michael Day, and caring staff and friends at Garden Manor Retirement Center, whose unselfish devotion brought much joy, worship time, and lots of activity into Tom's final months here on earth.
Monsignor Paul Metzger will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.
