Thomas Lay, Sr.

Thomas Lay, Sr., 78, of Middletown, died Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at his residence. He was born in Middletown, on October 1, 1927 to Verner Roy and Anna Lee (Noble) Lay.

Mr. Lay was a member of Holy Family Parish and served as eucaristic minister. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 218 and Veteran´s of Foreign Wars #3809. He worked as a maintenance foreman for Armco Steel, retiring in 1990. Tom was an avid golfer and bowler and will be remembered as a kind and loving person.

Mr. Lay is survived by his wife, Betty Jane (Lawson) Lay; five children, Bill (Wanda) Lay of Middletown, Linda Sue (Jim) McDowell of Middletown, Douglas Lay of Hamilton, Ann Tarise (dear friend Leann Kidwell) Lay of Middletown, and Jim (Carla Gae) Lay of Eaton; two sisters, Cecila Cramer and Betty Snell; six grandchildren, Joshua & Jonathan McDowell, Jacob & Angie Lay, and Trisha & Brett Lay; and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Lay Jr.; his parents; brothers, John, Gene, Billy, & Leonard Lay; and sisters, Rose Fritsch, Pauline Dyas, Lutheresa Bierman, Ina Madison, and Mildred Deets.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 28, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2-5 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
