Todd Gardner, 84, passed peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2006, at Otterbein-Lebanon Retirement Community. He was born in Oakland, California on November 21, 1921 to parents Walter Hervey and Laura (Todd) Gardner.
Todd was a graduate of Stanford University and worked as an engineer for Armco Steel Corporation retiring after more than 25 years with the company. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, living in Middletown with his family for 35 years. He spent the past three years in Lebanon. Mr. Gardner was active with the Middletown YMCA, where he was formerly a swimming coach, enjoyed golf, and coin collecting.
Mr. Gardner is survived by his loving wife, Elva (Smith) Gardner of Otterbein-Lebanon; daughters, Chrisele Gardner of Cincinnati and Laurie Jonas of Mason; son, Randall Gardner of Cincinnati; and grandchildren, Sera Dixon, Morgan Dixon, Kathryn Jonas, Sheridan Jonas, and CJ Groh.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Gardner; and sisters, Frances Anderson and Nancy Wikey.
Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at 5:00 PM at Otterbein - Lebanon Chapel, with Chaplain David Hilton officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 4:00 – 5:00 pm at the chapel.
