Tolbert Godsey, 85, of Madison Township, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Bickford Assisted Living. He was born in Ary, Kentucky on May 11, 1930 to parents William and Jessamine (Holliday) Godsey.
Tolbert worked as a crane operator for Armco Steel Corp. for 36 years, retiring in 1990. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 218 and the McArthur Post 303. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #501 and Eagles Aerie #528. Tolbert enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter.
Mr. Godsey is survived by his sons, Leroy W. Godsey & Darryl W. (Lillian) Godsey; daughters, Ellen D. Godsey & Kathryn S. Ricketts; six grandchildren, Amy Baker, Jodi Clager, Todd Smith, Eva Godsey, Missy Maturan & Sara Carroll; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma (Rose) Godsey; parents; two sisters; & three brothers.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Hixon Cemetery in McArthur, Ohio with military honors conducted by the McArthur Post 303 Honor Guard. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 – 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown.
