Vanella Opal (Buckner) Norvell, 87, of Madison Township, died Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at her residence. She was born in Morehead, Kentucky on December 14, 1920 to parents Charles and Flora F. (Springer) Buckner.

She was a Born Again Christian, and attended New Life Temple, under Pastor Dean Sheets, in the late sixties and seventies. She tended her vegetable and flower gardens, canned and preserved her fresh produce and pressed, dried and arranged her flowers into designs and picture arrangements which she gave away as gifts to many people. She volunteered for Middletown Hospital, Garden Manor Nursing Home, and loved to cook for those in need and those having a hard time in their life. She was a Big Sis with the Big Brothers/Sisters organization. She was active in many of her church's ministries and was a passionate prayer warrior for her family, friends and all the world.
Mrs. Norvell was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers and sisters, Iva Mae Riley, Mary Collins, Elmo, Monroe, Elwood, and Virginia Buckner, and Guy, Arlie, Tina, Lorina, and Barbara Stone, and Betty Jo Hutchinson; and by her great granddaughter, Isabell Higgs.
