Velma "Peggy" Carrozza, 76, beloved wife of Oscar L. Carrozza for 53 years, passed away peacefully Monday, August 26, 2013 surrounded by her family at her home. She was born in Virden, Illinois on November 26, 1936.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Harry & Helen Nation, and brothers Alfred "Dick" Nation and Harlan Nation.
She is survived by her husband; three children, Terri (Bill) Reece of Monroe, Tonya (John) Moryl of Trenton and Mark (Lisa) Carrozza of Monroe; She was a devoted grandmother to her six grandchildren, Megan Morgan, Hannah & Reegan Reece, Sophie & Danny Moryl, and Marisa Carrozza; step grandchildren, Sara & Tara Reece; and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by seven siblings, Walter Nation, Mary Margaret Manley, Harry "Frank" Nation Jr., Rose Dalton, Gylvia Hensler, Violet Jordan & Carolyn Passwaters; and sisters-in-law, Darlene Nation & Mary Ann Nation.
Peggy was a 1954 graduate of Monroe High School and attended Miami University. She was an active member in Junior Achievement and an avid bowler in Middletown leagues. She held various positions at CG & E, Middletown Federal Bank, and the Butler County License Bureau. She served 24 years in the Middletown/Monroe School District, retiring in 2004 as library secretary at Monroe High School. She was a lifelong member of the Church of God, attending Yankee Road, Crawford Street, and Breiel Blvd. First Church of God, where she served as Sunday School teacher for many years. Peggy was a loving mother and very active in the lives of her children. She was a Girl Scout Leader and Neighborhood Director in Trenton, volunteered as Cub Scout Den Leader, and coached softball for Trenton Knothole. After retirement, she volunteered for reading programs and preschool at Edgewood Schools.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 30, 2013 at 10:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Dr. Eric Newell officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
