Verla Mae Davis Hatton, 75, of Monroe, died Wednesday, January 19, 2006, at her residence. She was born in Hazard, Kentucky on May 15, 1930 to parents Ova and Maudie (Burgett) Davis.
Mrs. Hatton was a faithful member of Christian Enterprise Baptist Church. She enjoyed operating her gift shop for a number of years, as well as her hobby of making floral arrangements. She also worked at Broadway News for several years. Verla Mae was devoted to her husband and loving family.
Mrs. Hatton is survived by her husband of 54 years, Marvin G. Hatton; one sister, Fleta Swim of Franklin; one brother, Leo (Dixie) Davis of Middletown; seven nieces, Karen Clark, Christine Strobee, Wanda Rowe, Lois McDonald, Lola Ladd, Lorraine Harris, and Billie Jo Damron; and six nephews, Lee Graham Davis, Michael Joseph Schiff, Terry & Danny Bailey, and Bobby & Tommy Hatton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Wanda Fay Bailey; and brothers, Chavis Davis and Eugene Davis.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 22, 2006 from 1:00 – 3:00 at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) Middletown. Funeral Service will be Monday, January 23, 2006 at 12:00 Noon at Porter & Son Funeral Home, 769 E. Main St., Campton, KY with visitation prior to service from 10:00 – 12:00. Reverend James Anderson will officiate the funeral service. Interment will be at Evans Crossing Cemetery in Campton.
