Violet Virginia Barber, 95, of Middletown, died Monday, January 18, 2016, at The Woodlands of Middletown. She was born in South Shore, Kentucky on July 13, 1920 to parents Dudley W. and Sophia (Day) Morton.
Virginia worked as a teacher for 40 years, the last 20 of those at Middletown High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Mary Harrison Church Circle, the Women Teachers Club and the Guided Study Literary Club.
Mrs. Barber is survived by her son, Sam F. Barber Jr.; daughters, Mary A. (Ron) Davis & Jennifer S. (David) Graft; sisters, June Morton Perry & Pansy Howard; grandchildren, Brian Barber, Stacey Prakash, Samantha Barber, Ron Davis II, Michelle Rogers, Michael Graft & Jon Graft; eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam F. Barber in 1998; parents; brother, Dudley W. Morton; and sister, Irene Jones.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to The Woodlands and Hospice of the Miami Valley for their care & love.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church, 120 S. Broad Street, Middletown with Reverend John Wagner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am at church. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Miami Valley, 46 N. Detroit St., Xenia, OH 45385 or a Hospice of choice.
