Vivian Fontella Flower, 81, of Middletown, died Friday, December 27, 2002 at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Blackfork, Ohio on September 3, 1921 to parents John and Helen (Malone) Grubb.
Vivian married Newton Flower on September 25, 1942 at First United Methodist Church on Broad Street and has been a resident of Middletown for 60 years. She worked as a secretary for Diamond International for 16 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of Breiel Blvd. Church of God. She was the first church secretary for the Crawford Street First Church of God, which later became Breiel Blvd. Church of God.
Mrs. Flower is survived by her husband Newton Flower of Middletown; two sons John D. (Melanie) Flower of Monroe and Stephen P. (Becky) Flower of Zanesville, OH; a brother Alfred (Joan) Grubb of Ironton, OH; five grandchildren, Tonya (Jeff) Deem, Kevin Flower, Amy Tucker, Angela (Hank) Ray, and Allison Flower; and one great grandchild, Tag Tucker. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be Thursday, January 2, 2003 at 11:00 AM at the Breiel Blvd. Church of God, 2000 N. Breiel Blvd, Middletown, with Pastors David Colp and Eric Newell officiating. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at North Monroe Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Breiel Blvd. Church of God, 2000 North Breiel Blvd., Middletown, OH 45042.
