V.L. Olinger

V.L. Olinger, 89, of Middletown, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Close To Home. He was born in Pardee, Virginia on September 21, 1925 to parents Ernie and Desi Maude (Arnold) Olinger.

V.L. was the owner-operator of Olinger Brick Construction for over 50 years. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Poasttown First Church of God.

Mr. Olinger is survived by his wife, Naomi (Rittenberry) Olinger; children Greta Phipps-Long, Wayne (Debbie) Olinger, Don Olinger & Lois Rittenberry-Bowling; sisters, Frankie Holbrook, Vivian Hall & Loretta Fetter; grandchildren, Kimberly (Josh) Ashton, Misty Phipps-Ash, Dawn (James) Phipps-Chandler, Shawn (Heather) Napier, Eric (Marsha) Napier, Scott (Emma) Bowling & Mark Bowling; 10 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lee Olinger in 1949; parents; brothers, Keith, Richard, Murrel, Earl & Virgil Olinger; sister, Carma Lee Shell; and sons-in-law, Grenville 'Greenie' Phipps Jr. & Robert R. Long.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 20, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Brother Clay Norman officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. Interment will be at North Monroe Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
