Wilbur E. Foxx, 79, of Madison Township, died Thursday, August 11, 2005, at his residence. He was born in Middletown, on April 16, 1926 to parents John D. and Myrtle Lou (Williams) Foxx.
Mr. Foxx was an army veteran, serving in the 3rd Army under General Patton. He was a PFC with the 317th Infantry, 80th Division. He helped liberate Buchenwald concentration camp and received his good conduct medal, the Army Occupation Medal (Germany), European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon, and Distinguished Service Medal. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #528, VFW #3809, and American Legion Post #218.
Wilbur is survived by his wife, Alice (Mobley) Foxx of Monroe; one daughter, Sharon (Dennis) Hangbers of Marion, IN; three sons, Michael (Sally) Foxx of Middletown, Kenny (Diane) Foxx of Cumming, GA, and Paul (Sharon) Foxx of Barkhamsted, CT; three sisters, Geraldine (Dwayne) Foreman, Mae (Bob) Barman, and Sonja (Everett) Thomson; three brothers, Dewey Foxx, Granville (Mima Jean) Foxx, and Tommy (Janie) Foxx; grandchildren, Sutton, Sydney, Kelle, Alyson, Tina, Rob, Nikki, Adam, & Alec Foxx, and Doug & Sheri Hangbers; and great grandchildren, Violette, Robert, & Cody.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Jean Foxx; his parents; a sister, Francis Patrick; and a grandson, Danny Hangbers.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at 10:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.). Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 218 Honor Guard.
