William A. Buehner, 86, of Franklin, died Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. He was born in Lewisburg, Ohio on April 30, 1926 to parents Benjamin and Nora (Daffler) Buehner.
William retired from General Motors/ Harrison Radiator in 1991 after 46 ½ years of service. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II in Patton's Sixth Armored Division as a tank driver. Bill, along with his brother Jim, refereed high school and college basketball for many years and he a member of the Franklin American Legion Post 149.
Mr. Buehner is survived by his wife, Janet Slone Buehner; daughters, Andrea Gibbs and Jill (James) Goddard; brother, James (Betty) Buehner; grandchildren: Rachel Shields, Jordan Shields, Kari (Steve) Prouty and Elizabeth (Ben) Prouty; great grandchildren: Isabel Prouty, William Prouty and Cecelia Prouty.
William was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Roy Buehner, Everett Buehner, Charles Buehner and Paul Buehner; and sisters: Eva Fischer, Beryl Surber, Mary Ditmer and Dorothy Buehner.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 1:00 PM at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Pastor Kari Prouty and Chaplain George Gibbs officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park where military rites will be accorded by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
