William Carl "Wooly" Henning was 92 years young, of Middletown, and was welcomed into Heaven on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 6:40 AM, after being ill for a short time. He passed with his family at his side.
Wooly was born at home in Dayton, on February 15, 1918. Raised in Middletown, he attended Holy Trinity School. He went to work at the age of 16 for Sears, then was hired at Barkelew Electric, which merged with Square D in 1967. He would retire from Square D after 29 years of service.
Willy, a devout Catholic, was a member of Holy Trinity Church. He loved working in the yard, traveling, bingo and his yearly trip to Myrtle Beach. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and extended family.
He is survived by a niece and nephew, Julie Henning Markham and Jerry Henning, wife Lori Lykins Henning, which he has been a second father to; their children he has been a grandfather to, David Markham and Whitney and Joseph Henning; three sisters-in-law, Anna Slimak Henning, Mary "Tootsie" Peck Henning and Eleanor "Cookie" Garitson Henning, and many nieces and nephews who loved him for being one of those people who was raised in a generation when hardwork, family and true moral value was most important.
Wooly was welcomed into Heaven by his mother and father, Clara Miller Henning and Phillip Henning; five brothers, Henry "Hinnie" Henning, Martin "Ike" Henning, Melvin "Tweed" Henning, Joseph "Mose" Henning and George "Gorgie" Henning, who passed as an infant; one sister, Norma "Mags" Henning Kramer; nieces Peggy Henning Shumate, Connie, Sherrie and Susie Kramer; a nephew, Charles Stork; and great nephew, Joe Michael Manning.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church, 201 Clark Street, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
