William H. "Bill" Chaney, 85, of Madison Township, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Hawthorn Glen Senior Living Campus. He was born in Middletown on March 29, 1939 to parents, Herman and Mary (Outland) Chaney.
Bill graduated from Lemon Monroe High School, where he was on the honor roll, the dean's list and was a member of the school band. Bill had worked for Diamond National, retiring as Chief Engineer after over 49 years with the company. He was an active member of the United Church of God of Dayton, where he served as an usher. Bill was an avid reader, especially with the word of God. He enjoyed being outdoors and was quite the fisherman in his younger years. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Colleen (Joe) Gividen & Sherri (Joe) Jeffrey; son, Scott Chaney; grandchildren, Kristin Holmes, Ashley Grant & Brandon Byrd; and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy J. (Eichhorn) Chaney; and son, Tony Chaney.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown, with Reverend Ron Barker officiating. Visitation will one hour prior to the service from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
