William D. Monroe

William D. Monroe, 92, of Middletown, died on January 20, 2008, at Close To Home Assisted Living. He was born in Lima, Ohio on August 8, 1915 to parents Daniel and Goldie (Waltz) Monroe.

Mr. Monroe worked in cemetery sales for several years, and then worked as a case worker for the State of Ohio, retiring in 1966. Following his retirement, he moved to Jansen Beach, Florida, then moved back to Middletown in 1987. He loved to play golf.

Mr. Monroe is survived by his son, William Jared Monroe; grandchildren, Stacey Ann Monroe, Gregory Adam Monroe, and Will A. Monroe; and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane (Ritchie) Monroe in 1985; his son, Gregory Dana Monroe; his parents; 2 sisters; and 1 brother.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 25, 2008 at 11:00 AM at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) with Reverend Todd Mills officiating. Visitation will be Friday, prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Interment will be at Memorial Park in Lima, Ohio.
