Willam E. “Bill” Potter, 88, of Middletown, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017. He was born in West Liberty, Kentucky on February 16, 1929, the son of Samuel “Mick” Micloth and Viola (Short) Potter.
Bill is survived by his sons, Eric (Gale) Potter & Greg (Lisa) Potter; two grandchildren, Jason Potter & Kevin (Nicole) Potter; and two great grandchildren, Landon & Aubriella Potter. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
William graduated from Morgan County (West Liberty) High School in 1947. He worked at Diamond National and retired from Monsanto Research Corporation (Mound Lab) as a fireman in 1989. As a member of the Church at Mayfield, William helped with Vacation Bible School and the summer food program for needy neighborhood children, and served on numerous boards and committees. He also repaired and gave away approximately 200 bicycles to the neighborhood children. He aided in serving food at homeless shelters, and had a passion to pick up and deliver bread to various homeless and needy shelters in the Middletown-Franklin area twice a week.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Anita (Prater) Potter; his parents; and nine siblings.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 10:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Gary Ashley officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to Mission Funds at the Church at Mayfield, 3311 Burbank Ave., Middletown, Ohio 45044.
