William Edward Marcum, 93, of Monroe, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. He was born in Clay City, Kentucky on February 24, 1920 to parents Jesse and Nettie (Hall) Marcum.
Bill worked in East Processing at Armco Steel Corp for 34 years, retiring in 1980. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On January 31, 1948 he married Dorothy Mann. He enjoyed working in the yard & around the house and square dancing. He loved his family and his neighbors.
Mr. Marcum is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Marcum; daughters, Deborah (Thomas) Grant & Sondra Marcum; brothers, Floyd (Brenda) Marcum & Earl (Norma) Marcum; half-brothers, Bobby (Jane) Marcum & Jesse Marcum; grandchildren, Molly (Paul) Adams & Meredith Grant; and great grandchildren, Griffin & Grant Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marie McKinney & Leona Tipton; brother, Tracey Marcum; and grandson, James Marcum Grant.
Graveside service will be held Friday, May 3, 2013 at 2:30 pm at North Monroe Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, OH.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties, 5940 Long Meadow Dr., Franklin, Ohio 45005.
